Description: Annual shrub to 1 m, growing as an understory plant. Flowers small and solitary in panicles. Fruit approx 2cm, seeds numerous and yellow-brown. Distributed over tropical Asia, found in isolated patches, hill slopes, wasteland, farms, dry or wetland. Common in India, favouring tropical moist deciduous forests.
Constituents: Andrographolides including andrographolide itself.
Action: Immune enhancing, choleretic, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, adaptogen, antioxidant.
Nutritional ingredients: source of fiber
Suggested use as a Traditional Herbal Remedies Only: common cold, immune deficiency, skin infections, respiratory tract infections, liver insufficiency.
Suggested dosage: Add 1-2 teaspoon of herbs to a teapot and stir, cover and leave the tea stand for 10 - 30 minutes in hot water, strain and drink one to two times a day. The use in children under 12 years of age has not been recommended due to lack of adequate data. Keep out of reach of children.
Dosage (Dry herb): 1g-5g per day.
